5 ways we’re recognizing our LGBTQ employees and allies through our PRIDE network

Covance and our parent company LabCorp celebrated Pride Month in June, and our commitment to building a culture of openness and inclusion continues throughout the year. We recently caught up with members of our PRIDE Network and learned about some recent events and upcoming plans, such as the Indy Pride 2019 Career Fair, to strengthen our outreach.

1. Marching in the Indy Pride Parade

The Indianapolis, IN chapter of our employee-led PRIDE Network joined the local community at the Indy Pride parade and festival in June. Covance also served as one of the corporate sponsors of the event to signal our ongoing commitment to celebrating diversity.

“Since 2009, Covance has participated in the Indy Pride parade and festival, and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! Many new hires have said they became interested in Covance because they saw us at the Indy Pride festival, and each year we look forward to showing our support of the LGBTQ+ community,” said Stephen Gardner, Chairman for our PRIDE Network in Indianapolis.

2. Raising the flag in Madison, WI

A group of LGBTQ colleagues and allies from our PRIDE Network raised a flag in honor of Pride Month during June. This event has become an annual tradition to signal the start of the month and showcase Covance employees’ support for creating a safe and welcoming environment for all.

“Displaying the Pride flag outside the main entrance of our Madison, WI site throughout the month of June has been a powerful symbol of Covance’s commitment to inclusion and diversity. Many colleagues have commented that they appreciate seeing it, and our PRIDE Network chapter has been encouraged by the support of the flag raising event both locally and throughout the company,” said Terri Pepper, co-lead for our PRIDE Network in Madison.

3. Expanding the reach of the PRIDE Network

Covance sponsors several employee-led groups, like our PRIDE Network, to create valuable networking opportunities and build awareness about our diverse interests, talents and strengths. With established chapters in Indianapolis, IN, Madison, WI and Princeton, NJ, the PRIDE Network is now creating a new chapter in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area at Research Triangle Park.

“Expanding our PRIDE Network to North Carolina is underway and we hope to expand beyond the U.S. to truly be a global force for inclusion and diversity,” said Christopher Allman, Communications Director at LabCorp.

4. Earning national recognition

LabCorp recently earned a score of 100% in the Corporate Equality Index for the second year in a row. We are proud to be one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”

“It is an honor to receive this recognition for a second consecutive year because of the commitment of our nearly 61,000 colleagues worldwide to creating a positive work environment and culture,” said David P. King, chairman and CEO of LabCorp.

5. Attending the Indy Pride 2019 Career Fair – August 26
